Molecular cuisine

Why Michelin?

Okonomiyaki

Tonight I've finally made an Okonomiyaki!! This is one of my favourite Japanese dish that I always want to eat, however, not many restaurants are serving this dish for some reason. Okonomiyaki means 'cook as you like', it's definetly not a difficult dish to make, because there's ready mix powder available in the supermarket nowadays, so I only need to mix the powder with water and eggs to make the batter, then add cabbage, green onion, favourite seafood or meat, then pan fried and spread japanese mayonnaise and pancake sauce, and sprinkle dried bonito fish flakes when ready to serve.

Happy Valentine's dinner

This year, we celebrated Valentine day's with movie and dinner at home. We bought fresh oysters from Diana seafood market, and rack of lamb from Costco. Then we prepared dinner together and had a yummy and relaxing night!
I marinated the lamb with mix of french dijon mustard, lemon juice, olive oil, honey, herbs, salt and pepper. It is the simpliest way to marinate the lamb, 15 mins, then bake at 375 F for 20 minutes, that's all!

Lobster in two sauces

Last weekend I was craving for lobster! So I bought 2 live lobsters from supermarket. I didn't have time to shop for a bigger lobster at other market, so I just bought the biggest one from there... only 1.5 lb! =( I've made butter & garlic sauce and onion & cheese sauce, they both turns out pretty good, but my hubby likes the stronger flavor of the cheese sauce.
1. Wash lobster and cut the lobster on diagonal, clean and remove the dark vein that runs the length of the tail, but you can keep the mushy green stuff, which is called the tomalley—the lobster’s liver and it tastes very good!
2. Butter & Garlic sauce: Sprinkle salt & black pepper on the lobster. In a sauce pan, saute butter and minced garlic until golden brown. Set aside and wait till it's cooled, then pour the sauce on lobster.
3. Onion & Cheese sauce: In a sauce pan, pan fried onion with butter until soft. Add splash of white wine (optional), then add salt, pepper and herbs (optional). Pour spoonful of milk and flour into the cooked onion to make a think sauce. Pour the sauce on lobster and put cheese on top.
4. Baked lobster at 380 degree F for 20-25 minutes.

Chinese Turnip Cake

This is my second time to make the Chinese Turnip Cake, but because first time I made it was at least 7 years ago, so I don't have the recipe anymore. Glad that I found a good one on internet, and this is is much better and easier than last time! My hubby enjoyed it alot, so I've attached the recipe and link below. Don't forget to check out the pictures of my yummy 蘿蔔糕!!

(Actually I hand cut it into thin stripe),蘿蔔滲出的水留著備用2.

PES

I found couple of intersting videos produced by PES (http://www.eatpes.com/), they called those are 'Twisted films'. I'm so amazed by their creativity and efforts in making those clips, I've attached two of their famous clips 'Western Spaghetti ' and 'Pancakes for your face' which each has over 2 million hits on you tube!!!

Cupcake Falls in Love with Squash in 'Sweet Dreams'

I found this animation video about a cupcake goes on a journey away from its world of candies and sweets and accidentally ends up an unknown land of naked fruits and vegetables... yes, I know it sounds weird... but some people may find it's cute...

Oysterlicious!!!

Sometimes I'll have some oyster-lover friends come over to our house for a oyster dinner, we would buy dozens of oyster from the market or distributors, and then do the cleaning and shucking by ourselves. Although it takes lots of work and time, however it's much cheaper and more fun to do it this way! I want to recommend a market that offers good selection of fresh oyster with reasonable price: http://www.dianasseafood.com/
And I found a very good video for beginner to learn how to shuck an oyster:

God's Pharmacy!

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, created animals and fish... all before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. The following are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners...God left us a great clue as to what foods help which part of our body!

God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye ... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and functioning of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23 % sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocados, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts .
Onions look like the body's cells. Research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous radicals from the body.
